View Full Version : Repeated requests to accept incoming connections

I have been successfully using Mobile Mouse on my iPhone to control my Mac Mini running MacOS 10.5.8. Only problem is that everytime I run the Mac Server it asks whether I want the program to accept incoming connections. The first time I accepted and an entry was added to the firewall. However asks everytime I load the server. I have tried clearing the firewall entries and selecting allow all connections. Then rebooting and then reactivating the firewall - adding the server again. This did not fix the problem. Has anyone see this one before ? Is there a solution other than turning off the firewall ?

Hi, Nice to see that you like the App...

The only thing I can think of is the firewall settings, do you anyone else with a mac running 10.5.8?

You can try the good old
deinstall, reboot
redownload the server DMG from the site
reinstall, reboot and try again, but you do have to follow all those steps, I mean 5 minutes max so its worth a try...

That solves almost 100% of the server problems that I've ever come across... Let me know how you get on...

Hey - thanks for the suggestion.

Went through the drag app to trash - reboot - download - drop into applications - reboot - run app but unfortuately didnt fix the problem. Still get asked to accept !

This is a very weird problem. We've probably only heard about this from maybe 3 or so clients total, so it's very rare, but we have heard of it. We have tried everything we could to reproduce it and investigate the cause but could find no reason why it would occur. The only reason I could think of is if the user was running the server application from the disk image each time, instead of the Application directory, then the firewall might think it was a different program each time, but that doesn't sound like the case with you.

Maybe the community can help. Do any other users have any suggestions on what may be causing this with his firewall?

Another Duh moment for the devs, I had no end of problems tracking this bad by down but finally managed it...

Its your router, its assigning a floating IP address you have to go read your manual and set it up to always use a fixed IP...

Thanks for trying to hunt this down - sorry been away a while. Unfortautely I have always had the MacMini setup with a static IP so this doesnt appear to be the problem.

Static ip for your phone and server. Not your mac mini...

Also check your firewall to make sure that the ip is free and thE port...

Then check for conflicts on your network...
