I use the airmouse with a HTPC setup and with just some minor tweaking it would be a fantastic all around remote for my setup. The remote I currently use is a Universal RF-20. It works on a radio signal, if the airmouse could tap into that it would be fantastic.
The only issue is dealing with the limited battery life on my iPod Touch.
