I'm looking for an eyeTV configuration setting for the remote with some basic custom controls already configured that I can load up. Thinkg like full screen mode button, edit mode, program guide link, etc.
Is there a place to download these and is there a way to load them from the server app. I noticed the button to publish the settings, but where do they go if you publish them and can you access other people's published settings?
Thanks!

Once a user publishes a remote it gets sent to us, then we test it and post it, which sends it down to all the users. We are going to try it this way first, because we want to assure that all the remotes work before we make them available. If that doesn't work out, we'll make all the remotes available for people to download.

How would you handle conflicting setups for a single device?
btw where do we fine the steps publishing a remote? Doh, never mind see the Publish button in the program set up window.

I would highly recommend you setup an online community where we can upload our own settings and then others can rate them and download them for their Air Mouse server. There are too many options for configurations for each app, that you will not be able to cover with just one preconfigured option? ...I guess though, they can download your "officially approved" settings with the app and then modify it to suit custom needs?
On the other hand, there are several reasons why you would want to build this online sharing community... An active community will connect people to your product more, you don't have to oversee all the hundreds of apps out there, multiple configurations could become available via social rating systems, etc.
I do understand there would have to be some added functionality built in to your server app allow people to set the downloaded settings. Ideally from within the settings server app though (so you don't have to manage all the configurations outside of the app), but not absolutely necessary.
So I'll be patient, but I hope you can find the time to do it in the near future.
Thanks

This is a very good suggestion. Do others want to chime in on how they'd like to see something like this setup?

I think that, in theory, this is a great idea. There are many apps out there which can benefit from a remote control and you guys can't deal with all of them.
The trouble is that users who download another users solution may end up needing support. Perhaps in true community spirit, the user who submitted the solution could take some responsibility for support, at least until the community grows.

so again this is like my other post, 6by4 grid of boxes and have a button next to the web (globe) icon that fast switches between the views (normal keyboard/grid of icons), and have that screen set up by the user in the server software in the same manner as the 4 user keys...
http://leeswebdevelopment.com/Drumpadstyle.gif
as long as you set out the grid like say one of the drum machine apps then i cant see there being any problems, infact have two or three of these screens have the server send macros when an icon is selected and BANG a whole new set of uses for the program...
game controller flaps brakes guns missles gps radar
photoshop layer/brush/colour selector
word text property editor bold italic underlined
html have it put in the codes without all the typing
excel have it automatically fill in cells with @sum() and all the other functions you need in a hurry
http://leeswebdevelopment.com/programmers.gif
I have a Couger flight stick with throttle and we already have a community just like this...
@tonytony conflicting setups is easy... firstly program dependent key layouts... and selected by the 3 keyboards top left of my picks...
@anastas agree 100% added value so to add to the community I've amde these mock-ups...
@nick Well I'm here now and will help in any way I can, but as long as each user uploaded page coome with simple instructions there wount be any problems...
if anyone else agrees with me then please please plase speak up as this would add so much more to the program...
Sorry to dave for hijacking his post but this fits in both user designed and wanting more user buttons!

Even a simple export/import would really help. Then just give us a forum to share, if you make the export format readable then we can post and discuss - a forum thread a program.

Already asked for import export, for my keyboards see above and basically they said no, which doesnt make sense to me as they could have used that to make internation keyboards user definable... instead they give us the nice cut n paste which no one asked for :) but is quite cool...

What cut/paste is that? In program configs, or something else?

I published a remote for EyeTV yesterday. Don't know if it will be accepted.

It's been 4 days and you still have'nt got an answer... What do you think?
And that's the only way to get the devs attention...
I emailed them a while back on this. They said that the majority of remotes that people published were not close to working or being complete, so they weren't able to keep sorting through all the junk to find the ones that actually work. They said they were working on something better. Hope so, I would love to have a community driven collection of remotes.

Ok theres a huge problem that you haven't got your heads around yet, until there's a complete database of keypresses for each and every keyboard ( by language ) and until the MM server has the ability to remap those key codes and to send each off them to the currrently running (in the foreground) program then the remote subjects going to be moot... If we had something like the http://customkeysapp.com/ app as a back end then it would be easy as from the very start they were coded to fix the above problem...
But when MM was written the devs didn't plan on it being such a huge INTERNATIONAL hit and kind of deglected to split out the routines so that they could be easliy changed...
E.G. the fact that I can't use my Israeli keyboard and I have to use my basic (UK/BG) keyboard layouts... is killing me...
If you think any differently then I do or think I'm WRONG, then take in to consideration the fact that it took until last year to get the - + on the number pad to work because you can only as a programmer write the application to suit your needs and the way in which you work, until someone out points things that need addressing... Thank god the MM devs really do try to get things sorted out withthe minimum of fuss... but the issue still stands and until then do they just write for UK/US set ups? or do they rewrite huge chunks of their app to suit everybody?...
Whcih is exactly what they told me when I asked them about the issue, when was it let me see last July yes July...

In view of what juddadredd posted, here are the settings I used to make my remote for EyeTV. I have no problems with it in the US.
MEDIA KEYS:
Play/Pause: SPACE
Next: COMMAND + Right
Previous: COMMAND + Left
Menu: COMMAND + Esc
+: +
- : -
Forward: [empty]
Rewind: [empty]
CUSTOM KEYS:
Full Screen: COMMAND + 0
Record: COMMAND + r
Previous Channel: COMMAND + SHIFT + l (that's a lowercase "L", not a "1")
[empty]
ENTER: Enter
ESC: Escape
[empty]
[empty]
This control is built using MM's iTunes Media template.
Using MM's scroll button and right-click buttons on the touchpad allow for additional navigation through EyeTV as you would normally do.
MM's built in volume controls (Mute, Vol Up, Vol Down) function normally in EyeTV.
MM's "+" and "-" media buttons are for Channel Up and Channel Down.
ENTER and ESC are used to control EyeTV as you would if controling EyeTV with a keyboard. (Making selections/exiting from the EyeTV MENU, etc.)
Everything else functions as expected.

Still nothing on this guys? It's a real shame, you obviously have put a lot of work into the phone and PC/MAC software, but then you waste your own potential by not allowing the community to support itself. Don't worry about some great sharing site, just add export/import in text form, and let us start sharing...
